Grotto Beast is a card added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• When used, summons a random friendly Fiend Folio enemy from a set pool.
  • The enemy summoned can be of a certain rarity, which includes "Common", "Rare", "Epic" and "Legendary" — typically, the better the rarity, the stronger the summoned enemy.
  • The summoned enemy has a small chance to become "shiny". This is indicated by spark particles that appear around the enemy and a unique sound effect that plays when the enemy is spawned. Besides this, shiny enemies do not behave differently from regular friendly enemies.

Notes

• If Griddle Horn is summoned, they will not persist between rooms, however all Motes spawned by Griddle Horn will still persist.

Trivia

• The Grotto Beast card is a direct reference to Grotto Beasts, which is a collectible card game made by a popular Twitch streamer Jerma985.
• If the summoned enemy is of Rare rarity or higher, an announcer voice saying the enemy's rarity can be heard. The voice clips are taken directly from the card game Hearthstone.
• Griddle Horn and Luncheon's Tapeworms are the only two bosses that can be summoned with Grotto Beast.
  • In the lua file for the card, Battie can also be found in the Legendary pool, although it has been commented out.
